Jeff Liebig, CPA - Partner
A CPA with 30 years of experience, Jeff Liebig has seen business from every angle. Beginning as a certified public accountant with a local accounting firm in Sacramento, Jeff handled the standard responsibilities of a CPA, including preparation of tax returns for corporations, partnerships, LLCs, and individuals as well as payroll and sales tax returns. His goals in tax planning for individuals and businesses are twofold: ensure tax compliance and minimize tax liabilities.
But Jeff’s experience extends far beyond tax issues. Unlike a lot of CPAs who have little or no experience in the day-to-day operations of a business, Jeff worked for 15 years in private industry as a controller, VP of Finance, and CFO. He’s been deeply involved in the nuts and bolts of business – responsible for managing cash flow, growing the business, providing guidance during mergers and acquisitions, managing organizations through successful periods, steering them through downturns, and generally taking leadership in all aspects of a business’s financial well being.
Following his initial experience with Michael Hawes & Associates, Jeff worked as controller at EA Consulting, where he oversaw financial modeling, budgets, monthly financial presentations, and contract negotiations. He was then VP of Finance at Nolte Associates, an engineering firm with over 500 employees where he was responsible for forecasting, annual tax planning, and M&A processes. As CFO for Westin Engineering and then Wag Hotels, he managed financial planning, budgeting, human resources, tax planning, and banking relationships.
In 2014, Jeff came back to his roots to be an owner at Douglass + Liebig, CPAs. He continues to emphasize fiduciary responsibility, both advising and managing the financial and tax needs for small to medium-sized businesses.
